Macro on a budget

My 1st digital camera was a Minolta Dimage 7i - it was a great cam back in 2003... and I had lots of fun taking close-up shots like this one from a poppy:

But then I switched to a Canon DSLR and a 18-200lens and all of a sudden close-ups were part of the past...

So one day I asked myself: "What if you´re interested in macro photography, but can´t afford to buy a macro lens?"

Here´s the solution, that worked for me: the ancillary lens Marumi DHG Achromat Macro 200 (+5)

I had a lot of fun playing around with it...

...this white flower was really tiny - only about 1 or 1,5 cm in diameter...

... and there was a cat sleeping on a bench outside our appartment in Croatia every day (obviously she has no problem with her back!) ...

... she slept very deeply, so I could get these shots:

I took these free-handed - no tripod!

Another flower...

And THE classic - an eye-shot... hubby was in a very patient mood that day ;-)
(I had to increase ISO, because he was sitting in a shady place, so the pic is a bit grainy)

I love my ancillary lens - maybe this is an option for you, too?!

Out of the Blue

Some of my  - what I consider - "my best shots" were taken out of the blue ... no planning, no idea, that I´d get the chance to take a stunning shot...

Hubby and I were relaxing at the beach when this boy caught my attention. I liked the way he was playing with the stones... I didn´t know him, so I was careful to not capture his face on my shot... he  played only for 2 or 3 minutes with those stones and so the situation was over in a rush.

I love this shot... hope, you too!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a nice day!
